SoundMagic FX 1.0.3 is a package of digital effect plug-ins covering the range of non-real-time analysis/synthesis procedures. These effects gained an honourable mention at the first International Sound Software Competition held in Bourges, France.
Included free with SoundMagic FX 1.0.3 are:
Brassage Time Stretch - A quick 'n dirty time-stretching algorithm
Envelope Substitution - Transfers the amplitude envelope from one sound to another
Granular Synthesis Lite - A synchronous time-granulation effect
Sample Hose - A fully-featured brassage effect - sprays samples around in stereo space!
Peak Synchronisation - Finally... line up those onsets to the nearest sample at a click of the mouse!
Iterative Crossfade - Iterates samples while crossfading
Crossfade - Presents a variety of crossfading shapes

Spectral Tracing - Retains only a percentage of the loudest or softest partials of a sound
Spectral Masking - Retains the loudest partials of two sounds - a kind of spectral mixing effect

Mutate - A variety of weird and wonderful cross-synthesis algorithms

Spectral Interleaving - Interleaves groups of analysis windows from each sound
Spectral Freezing - 'Freeze' the spectral changes of a sound over time, with optional crossfade
Waveset Reversal - Reverses groups of wavesets
Waveset Interleaving - Interleaves groups of wavesets from each sound
Waveset Omission - Omits groups of wavesets from the sound
Waveset Time Stretch - Stretches the sound by iterating waveset groups
Waveset Harmonic Distortion - Adds harmonics to each waveset
Filterbank - A bank of six bandpass filters, for creating 'Aeolian harp' effects
Comb Filter Bank - A bank of six comb filters, with a metallic ringing sound
Remove DC Offset - Removes any vertical 'Direct Current' offset in a sound
Chunk Munger - A generic fragment manipulation process, for stretching, shredding, 'clouds of sound', etc.
Granular Synthesis - A synchronous granulation effect for stretching
Time-varying Delay - A pitched delay effect
Time-varying Time Stretch - A high-quality variable-rate time stretch

If you've already paid for an earlier version of SoundMagic FX, then SoundMagic FX 1.0.3 is a free upgrade. The only favour I ask is to spread the word about SoundMaker, SoundMagic and the Macintosh.
HOW TO PAY:
Paying for SoundMagic FX is simple. Just choose one of the methods below:
･ Credit Card: If you have a credit card, then you can choose to register in the following ways:
-> Online Registration: If you have a credit card, you can now do your ordering over the Internet. Just visit the following URL which will give you instructions for a secure or non-secure transaction:

-> Fax/Email/Post: Open the accompanying Register application, enter your name, your email address, and the number of single user licenses you desire. You can Copy the Registration data from Register into an email and send it to: sales@kagi.com . Alternatively, if you have a fax modem, you can Fax the information to fax number +1 510 652-6589. NB: payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgement once it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgement. Alternatively, you can print out the data using the Register application and send it to:

･ Cash or US$ Check: Open the accompanying Register application, enter your name, your email address, and the number of single user licenses you desire. You should Print the data using the Register application and send it to the address shown on the form, which is:

You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD checks is around US$15 per check and that is just not practical.
･ Invoice: If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the accompanying Register program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment. Kagi cannot invoice your company; you need to act on my behalf and generate the invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end.
･ Please do not fax or email payment forms that indicate Cash, Check or Invoice. Without the payment, the form cannot be processed.
･ Payments sent via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi once the form is processed.
REGISTRATION CODE & PASSWORD:
SoundMagic FX has a registration code system. Once you have made your payment, Kagi will send you a valid registration code and a password.
･ If you do not have an email address: please enter your complete postal address. You should also select the Postcard Receipt so that Kagi can inform you of your registration code. Kagi transmits the registration codes via email and paid postcard receipt only.
･ In order to protect this program from illegal copying, the registration code will need to be re-entered if you use the program on a different hard drive from the one you registered it on.
･ The password will be required to decompress the 'Shareware Effects' file. The registration code will be required to 1) remove the shareware notice from the free effects and 2) to allow you to use the shareware effects.

COPYING CUSTOM PRESETS FROM OLDER EFFECTS:
For those of you who are updating from earlier versions of SoundMagic FX, you may have made some custom presets in one or more of the effects. These presets are (for the time being) stored inside the resource fork of the individual effects. To copy them across to the new effects, you simply need to open up both the old effect and the new effect in ResEdit (available at most Mac ftp sites). Then double-click the Setp resource in the old effect, select your own custom setups, then Copy and Paste them into the new effect.
